The vibe and energy at The Zone, the instructors, the workouts and the clientele –it’s my Bazinga 5 days a week.
Pilates is a wonderful exercise regimen for strengthening the core muscles. I discovered Pilates and the Zone Studio by chance in 2009, while trying to gather information about coping with back pain which was plaguing me. Since then I have been training in/doing Pilates at The Zone Studio with Anjali Sareen. My Pilates sessions with Anjali have helped me immensely in managing my back problems. The Zone Studio to me is Anjali Sareen and Sharat Sareen. They are those rare individuals – the dedicated professionals, who are passionate and totally involved with what they do. Anjali’s knowledge, expertise, experience and absolute attention to detail is what makes the sessions with her invaluable and takes your workout to a different level. Anjali and Sharat believe in a hands-on approach and completely involve themselves in the Pilates sessions, which is what sets apart The Zone Studio, in a class of its own.
My daughter Aparajitha was 12 when I took her to Anjali for a pilates class. Aparajitha was a child who didn’t enjoy physical activity; she spent most of her time with books and to add to it she was going through a growth spurt where she shot up to be almost 5’8″ tall, an increase of almost 7″ in a year. She was starting to develop bad posture and hunch a bit.
It’s been a year now, and Aparajitha is addicted to pilates. Her posture is more erect she no longer hunches, and the best part of all, she is no longer scared of physical activity. Anjali has not just taught the basics of pilates to her, but also helped her understand her own body, how to work the various muscle groups, and how to be aware when she falls back into her old posture and self correct. Aparajitha has now developed such an understanding of herself and an awareness of how to use her muscles better that she is able to overcome her fear of competing in physical and sports activities with her peers. I can only imagine what this kind of knowledge and awareness will do for children who actually enjoy physical activities and sports!!
Anjali is one of the finest pilates instructors I have taken classes with. She is meticulous and has a great grasp of the subject both theoretically and physically”… I am glad I had the chance to train with her.
The inability to do conventional exercise due to multiple slipped discs, combined with a hectic travel schedule used to severely strain my back. That is until I discovered Pilates two years ago. Today I live a far more active and pain-free life due to my regular Pilates sessions.
I enrolled in the Stott Mat and Reformer Courses last year not knowing what direction my studies would take me. With Anjali’s guidance, patience and amazing instruction, I became certified in July of 2013 and began teaching shortly after upon my return to the US. The flexibility of the course timings, the structure, and the variety of students I had the pleasure of working with throughout the training was an experience I will never forget.
The attention to detail by Anjali and her dedication to the practice of Pilates is something you will not find in many other studios. Her commitment to the Zone’s reputation as a top notch Pilates studio shines throughout her teaching of the Stott Certification Courses. My current success as an Instructor is due to Anjali’s inspiration and commitment to what she does. I highly recommend anyone considering a career as a Pilates Instructor to join the Zone. In the end, you feel part of a family.
Zone has been keeping me fit and fine since last six years. A professional and dedicated set up passionate about fitness with a personal touch helps us to stay motivated to exercise regularly. Zone has become a habit. I owe my six pack to Zone.
Pilates has made my daughter stronger and more focused in mind and body. An overall well being. I have noticed better self esteem that comes with improved posture and flexibility. In her words, ‘a fun way to exercise and feel the pain!’ She always talks about how Anjali is able to take you through an exercise GRADUALLY but SURELY, and at the end of the class you feel worked out and good about yourself, (despite the huffing and panting!!)
It certainly gives her an advantage while playing a sport as her stamina has increased. She always says it’s addictive; once you start it’s hard to stop. I am glad to hear her say she looks forward to going for her Pilates classes!!
I look forward to every Monday, Wednesday and Friday because those are the days I go to The Zone for my workouts – Pilates and HICC (High intensity and Core Challenge). Simply love the way, Anjali takes us through warm ups and then makes us do the most difficult workouts effortlessly; the sessions are better than a hot cup of coffee! Thanks Anjali.
Anjali and The Zone. More than 15 years ago, I met Anjali. She was a strong, attractive, fit and joyous woman of indeterminate age. That has not changed to this day.
So we started step workouts above K C Das’ restaurant. So our space had rasagollas below us and Anjali in front of us. Anjali’s soft but insistent voice urged us on to greater heights of rope-y muscles and fitness beyond compare.
In baby steps, the rag-tag bunch of people who were part of this incongruous group built that fitness and that musculature. Suddenly we looked at each other and we had “arrived”.
Since that day, Anjali has kept my nose to the grindstone with my fitness. My nose looks terrible, but my 62-year-old muscles worked wonderfully, whether I am on a mountain trek or up a ladder pulling down suitcases.
After one such exercise of pulling down suitcases for a travel, while I was in Kenya, I had a stroke that left me suffering a borderline vertigo and a weak right side. I also lost Anjali’s skills for the years that I was away.
When I got back to the real world, Anjali looked me up and down and said, “I will see you in my studio. Come and do Pilates, It will do you good.” From that spot in time, to where I am today, I credit The Zone with my fitness. The fact that I can stand up with no trouble in my knees or back or posture is another reason I wake up every alternate day before sunrise to drive all the way to Koramangala through beastly traffic. I work out with single-minded focus for the hour after that, and then with quivering muscles and expanded lungs, I walk back home to an angelic breakfast. Life is worth living!
May the blessings of the Gods of Fitness be showered upon Zone and its inhabitants!
I am thirty nine, often an age around which most of us realize that our mental and physical engagement is required to keep our bodies in shape.
I have been through my share of gyms, personal trainers and the horror of waking up early in the morning and realising that you have 45 minutes of brainless, often painful and usually intense muscle workout ahead of you.
The problem at least for me was that all these exercise regimens did not engage me mentally. After a good amount of research I decided to try Pilates.
In Pilates – I seem to have found the perfect way to engage myself mentally to connect with my body, strengthen key muscles, increase the fluidity of the way I move and improve my overall physical well being. Pilates, often seen as the physical training regimen for the elite ie. Sportsmen, Ballet dancers, Hollywood stars is now becoming available to common folks like us through experts in the field who believe that everybody should have access to these techniques which can significantly improve our well being.
To me Pilates represents a training regimen which combines the scientific understanding of the human musculature & calisthenics, the techniques of yoga and the intensity of aerobics into one discipline which is easy to practice in our daily lives.
"I joined the Zone a few months before I was expecting a baby to just experience what Pilates is like as I was tired of being sore from excessively heavy weights and a general feeling of tiredness that results from it, not to mention I was scared of bulking up.... I loved it from the first session-you feel the work on your muscles; you actually feel leaving rejuvenated and with a sense of well being.
Also it makes you leaner and toned rather than bulking you up.
When I was expecting a baby, Pilates made the nine months a breeze - it felt like taking control when so many changes are happening to your body at once 🙂
Post pregnancy, it has helped me recover quickly and the sessions also give me the much needed sanity in a crazy schedule...Have to say, have loved all the personal sessions from Anjali and Sharat, it’s probably testimony enough for pilates that their energy never dips!! Looking forward to my next session today..."
I am from Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and have done Stott Pilates for 12 years. When I was asked to take a 3-month work assignment in Bangalore, India, the very first thing I did was google Stott Bangalore and was amazed and ecstatic to find The Zone Mind and Body Studio. I could not imagine putting my Stott practice on hold for so long a time. It’s that important to me. Finding The Zone Studio made me more comfortable saying yes to the assignment. I know, this sounds crazy or maybe not, but Stott has been life-giving to me, has seen me through breast cancer and
I have had a wonderful experience at this studio and have had the very lucky and happy experience of training with Anjali Sareen in Bangalore. I feel very fortunate. I know Stott well and have worked with some expert trainers at home; I am amazed at how much I’m learning from her.
For anyone who doesn’t know this pilates method; small, subtle changes in body position can make the various exercises much more impactful. This is the case no matter how long one has been doing this or how expert one thinks they are. Anjali is magic; her body adjustments have made a real difference for me even though we’ve been working together for only a month. Stott is wonderful, but having such a professional, empathetic and gently-demanding a trainer makes a difference and would make a difference in anyone’s life.
I will miss her gentle-demands very much when I leave. I’ve found some bit of home here.
